Now Free: the Diagonal Stripes Bracelet

Diagonal Stripes Bracelet, free pattern

DIAGONAL STRIPES BRACELET
copyright 2006 Deborah Roberti

The Diagonal Stripes Bracelet pattern is fully illustrated with detailed step-by-step instructions for an easy, single-needle, right-angle weave (worked diagonally) band. I used 6mm bicone crystals but you could just as easily use 6mm fire-polished beads or any 6mm bead. For a smaller, daintier bracelet or necklace, use 4mm bicone crystals and 3mm fire-polished beads. It's a very versatile pattern.

MATERIALS (for a 7-inch bracelet, not including clasp)
• 3 yards Waxed Nymo or C-Lon thread, size D, or 6 lb. FireLine
• About 200 size 11/0 seed beads
• About 15 size 6mm blue bicone crystals
• About 15 size 6mm green bicone crystals
• About 15 size 6mm purple bicone crystals
• About 40 size 4mm black fire-polished beads
• clasp

Step 1: Thread your needle with 3 yards Nymo, C-Lon or Fireline.

String a blue crystal, a seed bead, a fire-polished bead, a seed bead, a blue crystal, a seed bead, a fire-polished bead and a seed bead.

Leaving an 14- to 16-inch tail for attaching the clasp, tie the beads in a circle with a double knot:

Step 2: Go back around through the blue crystal, the seed bead, the fire-polished bead, the seed bead and the blue crystal that you added in the last step (highlighted in RED):

Step 3: String a seed bead, a fire-polished bead, a seed bead, a blue crystal, a seed bead, a fire-polished bead and a seed bead. Go around and back across through the blue crystal that you exited at the end of the last step (highlighted in RED):

Step 4: Go back around through the seed bead, the fire-polished bead, the seed bead, the blue crystal, the seed bead and the fire-polished bead that you added in the last step (highlighted in RED):

Step 5: String a seed bead, a green crystal, a seed bead, a fire-polished bead, a seed bead, a green crystal and a seed bead. Go around and back up though the fire-polished bead that you exited at the end the last step (highlighted in RED):

Step 6: Go back around through the seed bead, the green crystal, the seed bead, the fire-polished bead, the seed bead and the green crystal that you added in the last step (highlighted in RED):

Step 7: String a seed bead, a fire-polished bead, a seed bead, a green crystal, a seed bead, a fire-polished bead and a seed bead. Go around and back across through the green crystal that you exited at the end of the last step (highlighted in RED):

Step 8: Go back around through the beads highlighted in RED:

Step 9: String a seed bead, a purple crystal, a seed bead, a fire-polished bead, a seed bead, a purple crystal and a seed bead. Go around and up through the fire-polished bead that you exited at the end of the last step (highlighted in RED):

Step 10: Go back around through the beads highlighted in RED:

Step 11: String a seed bead, a fire-polished bead, a seed bead, a purple crystal, a seed bead, a fire-polished bead and a seed bead. Go around and back across through the purple crystal that you exited at the end of the last step (highlighted in RED):

Step 12: Go back around through the seed bead, the fire-polished bead, the seed bead, the purple crystal, the seed bead and the fire-polished bead that you added in the last step (highlighted in RED):

Step 13: Repeat Steps 9 through 12—alternating between blue, green and purple crystals—until your bracelet is the length you want it, minus about an inch and the length of your clasp.

Step 14: To attach the clasp to one end of your bracelet, string a seed bead, a crystal (whatever color is next in your alternation), a seed bead, a fire-polished bead, a seed bead, another crystal and a seed bead. Go around and back up through the fire-polished bead that you exited at the beginning of this step (highlighted in RED):

Step 15: Go back around through the seed bead, the crystal, the seed bead, the fire-polished bead and the seed bead highlighted in RED:

Step 16: String four seed beads. Go through the clasp and then back through the 4th seed bead that you just strung:

Step 17: String three more seed beads. Go back through the seed bead that you exited at the end of the last step (highlighted in RED), forming a circle of seed beads:

Step 18: To reinforce the area that connects to the clasp, go back around through the crystal, the seed bead, the fire-polished bead, the seed bead, the crystal, the seed bead, the fire-polished bead and exit out of the same seed bead you exited from at the beginning of this step (all beads highlighted in RED):

Step 19: Go back around through the circle of seed beads (highlighted in RED) and the clasp:

If you think you can get your needle and thread through this circle of seed beads and the clasp again, repeat this step.

Weave your way back into the bracelet, knot in several places and cut the thread.

Step 20: Flip the bracelet around so you can attach the other end of the clasp. Thread your needle with the tail thread from Step 1. Go through the seed bead and exit out of the fire-polished bead highlighted in RED:

Repeat Steps 14-19 to attach the other end of the clasp.

Free Czechmates SuperDuo Bracelet

Linda's Tweaked Stacker

My free Stackers pattern (available by clicking HERE)
adapted into a beautiful bracelet by Linda Genaw at craftyinspirationbylinda.blogspot.com

For detailed information on beads used in the photo above,
go to Linda’s blog by clicking HERE.

MATERIALS (for a 7-inch bracelet, not including clasp)

• 3 yards of 6 lb. FireLine, or waxed Nymo or C-Lon thread, size D (note: pick a thread color that is as close as possible to the Czechmates tile bead color)
• About 250 size 11/0 seed beads
• About 22 Color1 SuperDuo beads
• About 22 Color2 SuperDuo beads
• About 12 Czechmates tile beads
• clasp

Repeat Step 1 to Step 21 of Stacker Band 1 (my Stackers pattern is available by clicking HERE) but with the following changes:
• start with 3 yards of FireLine instead of 2 yards
• use Czechmates tile beads instead of Czechmates brick beads
• do not cut your thread at the end of Step 20 but go ahead and attach the other end of your clasp as instructed in Step 21

Step 1: Go back across through the two seed beads highlighted in RED:

Step 2: String six seed beads and go down through the two seed beads, the Color2 SuperDuo bead and the two seed beads highlighted in RED:

Step 3: String five seed beads and go down through the two seed beads, the Color2 SuperDuo bead and the two seed beads highlighted in RED.

NOTE: Not all size 11/0 seed beads are the same size. As such, if your five seed beads tend to bulge or buckle, the alternative would be to use smaller seed beads along this outside row or add four seed beads instead of five.

Step 4: Repeat Step 3 until you get to the end:

Step 5: String six seed beads. Go across through the two seed beads highlighted in RED:

Step 6: String six seed beads and go up through the two seed beads, the Color2 SuperDuo bead and the two seed beads highlighted in RED:

Step 7: String five seed beads and go up through the two seed beads, the Color2 SuperDuo bead and the two seed beads highlighted in RED:

Step 8: Repeat Step 7 until you get to the end:

Step 9: String six seed beads. Go across through the two seed beads highlighted in RED:

Weave back into the bracelet, knot in several places and then cut your thread.

MATERIALS
Earrings:
• Two yards of 6 lb. FireLine
• About 65 size 11/0 seed beads
• 36 Color1 SuperDuo beads
• 36 Color2 SuperDuo beads
• 14 size 4mm beads of any type
• two small (2-4mm) closed jump rings
• a pair of earring findings
Pendant:
• One yard of 6 lb. FireLine
• About 35 size 11/0 seed beads
• 18 Color1 SuperDuo beads
• 18 Color2 SuperDuo beads
• 7 size 4mm beads of any type
• a size 4mm closed jump ring
• a chain or cord with clasp

Step 1: Thread your needle with a yard of FireLine.

Leaving about a 6-inch tail, string a Color1 SuperDuo bead, a seed bead, a Color1 SuperDuo bead, a seed bead, a Color1 SuperDuo bead, a seed bead, a Color1 SuperDuo bead, a seed bead, a Color1 SuperDuo bead, a seed bead, a Color1 SuperDuo bead and a seed bead.

Tie the beads together in a tight double knot:

Step 2: Go back around through the beads that you strung in the last step, grab the tail thread and tie another tight knot:

Step 3: Go back through the seed bead and the inside hole of the Color1 SuperDuo bead highlighted in RED:

NOTE: I find it best to weave your tail thread into the circle and cut it now so it doesn’t get in the way later.

Step 4: Go around and through the outside hole of the same Color1 SuperDuo bead that you exited at the end of the last step (highlighted in RED):

Step 5: String three Color2 SuperDuo beads. Go through the outside hole of the Color1 SuperDuo bead highlighted in RED:

Step 6: String three Color2 SuperDuo beads. Go through the outside hole of the Color1 SuperDuo bead highlighted in RED:

It’s a tight squeeze to get three Color2 SuperDuos beads in between each Color1 SuperDuo bead but just squeeze away and don’t worry if they get floppy. You’ll fix that later.

Step 7: String three Color2 SuperDuo beads. Go through the outside hole of the Color1 SuperDuo bead highlighted in RED:

Step 8: String three Color2 SuperDuo beads. Go through the outside hole of the Color1 SuperDuo bead highlighted in RED:

Step 9: String three Color2 SuperDuo beads. Go through the outside hole of the Color1 SuperDuo bead highlighted in RED:

Step 10: String three Color2 SuperDuo beads. Go through the outside hole of the Color1 SuperDuo bead highlighted in RED:

Step 11: Go back through the inside hole of the three Color2 SuperDuo beads highlighted in RED:

To help maintain tension, pull tight, knot once but do not cut your thread.

Step 12: Go around and through the outside hole of the same Color2 SuperDuo bead that you exited at the end of the last step (highlighted in RED):

Step 13: String a Color1 SuperDuo bead. Go through the outside hole of the Color2 SuperDuo bead highlighted in RED:

Step 14: String a Color1 SuperDuo bead. Go through the outside hole of the two Color2 SuperDuo beads highlighted in RED. Pull tight as you do so that the outside ends come together in a “v”:

Step 15: String a Color1 SuperDuo bead. Go through the outside hole of the Color2 SuperDuo bead highlighted in RED:

Step 16: String a Color1 SuperDuo bead. Go through the outside hole of the two Color2 SuperDuo beads highlighted in RED. Again, pull tight as you do so that the outside ends come together in a “v”:

Step 17: Repeat Steps 15 and 16 until you come to the end:

Step 18: Go back through the inside hole of the Color1 SuperDuo bead, the outside hole of the Color2 SuperDuo bead and the inside hole of the Color1 SuperDuo bead highlighted in RED:

Again, to help maintain tension, pull tight, knot once but do not cut your thread.

Step 19: Go around and through the outside hole of the same Color1 SuperDuo bead that you exited at the end of the last step (highlighted in RED):

Step 20: String two seed beads. Go through the outside hole of the Color1 SuperDuo bead highlighted in RED:

Step 21: String a seed bead, a 4mm bead and a seed bead. Go through the outside hole of the Color1 SuperDuo bead highlighted in RED:

Step 22: String two seed beads. Go through the outside hole of the Color1 SuperDuo bead highlighted in RED:

Step 23: Repeat Steps 21 and 22 until you come to the end:

Pull tight, and as you do, allow the beads to form a slight dome. Knot once but do not cut your thread.

Step 24: Go back around through the outer ring of beads highlighted in RED:

Step 25: Go back around through the beads highlighted in RED:

Step 26: String a seed bead, a 4mm bead and a seed bead. Go through the jump ring and then back down through the last seed bead that you just strung:

Step 27: Go back down through the 4mm bead and the two seed beads highlighted in RED:

Step 28: Go around through the outer ring of beads highlighted in RED and the jump ring:
